A 20th-anniversary escape at Parker Palm Springs

Sometimes you don’t need a week away. Sometimes, one perfect night is enough.

For our 20th anniversary, my husband and I found ourselves in a very familiar season of life: busy. Between work, family, schedules and everything that fills the space in between, a long anniversary getaway simply wasn’t in the cards. But one night? We could make that happen.

So we escaped to Parker Palm Springs—and in less than 24 hours, it reminded me just how restorative a short getaway can be.

A Desert Hideaway That Feels Like Its Own World

The transformation begins before you even check in. Pass through the Parker’s iconic orange doors and the outside world seems to disappear. The private 13-acre estate unfolds through lush garden paths, towering palms, tucked-away seating areas, fire pits, lawns and three distinct pools. It feels less like checking into a hotel and more like being admitted to a wonderfully eccentric private club.

We stayed in a Villa, and it made the escape feel even more special. The Parker’s stand-alone villas offer the privacy of a home, with a separate living room, dining area and enclosed patio, while keeping you steps from everything on the estate. For one night, it felt like our own stylish Palm Springs apartment hidden inside a secret garden.

Spa, Pool, Then Nowhere Else to Be

We started our anniversary afternoon at the Palm Springs Yacht Club, the Parker’s spa. The property itself has a wonderfully layered history: after its Gene Autry era, it became the Givenchy Hotel & Spa, associated with legendary designer Hubert de Givenchy. Today, the Parker has transformed that legacy into something entirely its own—playful, glamorous and just irreverent enough.

After our treatments, we did exactly what a desert getaway calls for: we went to the pool. The Parker has three pools, including the outdoor Silicon Valley and Gene Autry pools and the indoor pool at the Palm Springs Yacht Club. We lingered poolside, let the afternoon slow down and realized that we had already shifted out of everyday life—even though we had barely been away for a few hours.

The Perfect Parker Evening

One of the best things about staying at the Parker is that once you arrive, there is absolutely no reason to leave. Our evening unfolded entirely within the estate.

1  Counter Reformation We began at the Parker’s intimate, Parisian-inspired wine bar—a tiny shrine to great wine, with interesting pours by the glass and small savory plates.
2  The Living Room Next came a lounge cocktail in one of the Parker’s wonderfully layered gathering spaces: comfortable, glamorous and made for lingering.
3  Mister Parker’s We ended with a romantic anniversary dinner at Mister Parker’s. Dark, discreet and decadent, it feels theatrical and intimate at the same time—the perfect final chapter to the evening.
4  Back to our villa No driving, no logistics, no rushing. Just a walk through the gardens back to our own private hideaway.

Just as memorable as the setting was the service. From the moment we arrived, the team at the Parker was impeccable—warm, attentive and polished without ever feeling overly formal. Every interaction felt effortless, and there was a genuine sense that the staff wanted us to relax and enjoy our anniversary. It’s the kind of intuitive service that quietly elevates a beautiful hotel into a truly memorable stay

The Virtuoso Difference

The Parker is part of Virtuoso’s luxury hotel portfolio, which is especially meaningful to me as a Virtuoso luxury travel advisor. When I book eligible stays for my clients through Virtuoso, they receive preferred amenities that can make an already special stay feel even more elevated.

At the time of writing, Parker Palm Springs Virtuoso amenities include:

  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
  • $50 daily breakfast credit per person for up to two guests
  • $100 resort/hotel credit during the stay

Amenities and program terms can change, so I confirm the current benefits at the time of booking. On a short stay, these details matter: breakfast becomes part of the experience, the resort credit can be put toward something indulgent, and an upgrade—when available—can make a celebratory night even more memorable.

One Night Was Wonderful. Three Would Be Ideal.

By the time we left the next day, we agreed that it was a magical anniversary celebration. We both agreed our one night was pretty close to perfect. If I could change one thing, I would have made it three. With a little more time, you can truly settle into the Parker and all it has to offer. Then venture beyond the gates to experience what makes Palm Springs so special, from its iconic midcentury-modern architecture and stylish downtown shops and galleries to its vibrant dining scene and the natural beauty of the surrounding desert.

Refined adventures. Personally curated. Always.
